All Progressives Congress will welcome Rabiu Kwankwaso if he decides to join — Abdullahi Umar Ganduje

Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that the party would welcome former Kano State Governor Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso if he decides to join its ranks.

Speaking after meeting Alhaji Yusuf Ata, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Ganduje expressed that APC remains open to accommodating Kwankwaso, who he described as “a fish out of water” seeking to return to the political fold.

He said: “We cannot say we won’t accommodate him. A friend in need is a friend indeed. If Kwankwaso decides to join us, we will gladly welcome him, as it is morally right to support him in finding shelter within our party.”

Earlier, Ata, a former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, had visited Ganduje to express his support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration and its efforts for the development of Kano State. Ata also affirmed his commitment to delivering Kano in the 2027 elections.

While Ata expressed reservations about Kwankwaso’s potential return to the APC, he added: “For me, I would not want the former governor to be welcomed into the APC fold, but if our national chairman decides otherwise, I have no choice but to accept it.”
