Atiku, associates visit new Olubadan, hail monarch’s ascension

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday led a delegation of political associates and friends to Ibadan on a congratulatory visit to the newly installed Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I.

The delegation included former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, former Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke, former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, ex-Police Affairs Minister, Adamu Maina Waziri, and Kashim Imam.

Atiku, in a message shared on his social media handles, described Oba Ladoja as a longtime associate, recalling their years of service to the nation. He said the monarch’s ascension was a source of pride and prayed for a long, peaceful and prosperous reign for him and Ibadanland.

“I was elated that the Olubadan called every member of the delegation by their names, remembering our time together in the public service. Indeed, His Royal Highness and all of us had shared decades of service to our dear nation,” Atiku stated.

The former Vice President, who could not attend the coronation due to what he called “protocol logistics,” urged the new monarch to continue to uphold justice and fairness across political and religious divides.

He also thanked the people of Ibadan for the warm reception given to him and his entourage at the city gate.
