Akoko Youths empower 40 members at annual summit

The Akoko Youths Forum, the umbrella body representing youths across the four local government areas of Akoko, Ondo State, has empowered 40 of its members at this year’s annual youth summit.

The event, which took place on Saturday in Ugbe Akoko, drew participants from communities across the Akoko axis.

With the theme “Advancing youth development through innovation and leadership”, the summit featured a panel session on business and technology, aimed at equipping young people with skills relevant to modern opportunities.

President of the forum, Akeju Blessing James, in his remarks, praised members for their resilience and steadfastness, assuring them of the executives’ commitment to service.

“Today represents an historic moment in the history of this organization. We will be changing the lives of 40 young persons in Akoko today by empowering them to build a life for themselves.

“We appreciate the members for their support so far and our sponsors. You all made this possible.”

Chairman of the planning committee, represented by his deputy, Prince Ademuwagun, stressed the importance of unity among Akoko people.

“We can do more together as one. The development of Akoko depends on our decision to work together as one. I appreciate the Central Planning Committee, National Executives and members of the association for a successful summit despite the difficulties we encountered.”

One of the guest speakers, Dr. Bayo, IPTP Director at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), linked the call for the creation of Ose State to Akoko unity, saying it would strengthen the group’s position as a majority tribe in the agitation.

Chairman of Akoko North-East Local Government, Hon. Mutiu Olawale Mohammed, also commended the leadership of the forum for prioritising empowerment initiatives, noting that it aligned with his vision of helping young people thrive and live decently.

The summit also had in attendance traditional and institutional leaders, including His Imperial Majesty, Oba Moforunso Samuel Arasanyin, Arole Agba I, Okeladeokin Ajana of Afa Okeagbe Akoko, represented by Chief Fiwajoye of Afa Okeagbe; Dr. Bayo, IPTP Director AAUA; and the Director-General of ITF, represented by Hon. Tajuden Ogun.
