BREAKING: Students unable to check result as WAEC shuts down portal, gives reasons

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has temporarily taken down its result-checking platform due to a technical fault that emerged shortly after the release of the 2025 WASSCE results.

The announcement was made via the Council’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday evening.
“WAEC hereby informs the general public that the result checker portal @waecdirect.org is temporarily shutdown due to technical issues.

“However, the Council is working assiduously to ensure that candidates are able to access their results in the next 24 hours. Please bear with us.”

Veracity News reports that thousands of candidates eager to check their results were met with website errors and failed access attempts, prompting complaints and confusion on social media.

Although WAEC did not elaborate on the specific nature of the technical issue, it assured the public that efforts are in full swing to restore access within a day.

The disruption occurred less than 24 hours after the 2025 results were officially released, causing a surge in traffic to the portal.

As of the time of filing this report, no further update has been issued by the Council.

Candidates are advised to stay connected to WAEC’s verified communication channels for any developments regarding the restoration of the portal.
