Akoko Youths condemn abduction of AAUA Staff, demand swift security action

The Akoko Youth Forum (AYF) has strongly condemned the abduction of Mr. Omoniyi Eleyinmi, a staff member of the Faculty of Education at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), who was reportedly kidnapped from his residence in Supare Akoko on Monday evening.

In a statement signed by its National Youth President, Engr. Blessing Akeju, and issued on Tuesday, the group described the abduction as a serious affront to the peace and stability of the Akoko area, urging immediate action from security agencies.

“The safety of our people can no longer be left to chance. No community can thrive in fear. We must protect our residents, our teachers, our youth, our workers. Akoko must not become a haven for criminal elements,” the group said.

According to reports by The Hope, the incident occurred when a group of armed men invaded the victim’s residence, firing sporadically into the air and throwing the neighbourhood into chaos.

“This is not just about one man or one university. It is a serious threat to the safety, development and collective progress of our region.”

The Forum called on the Ondo State Government, the Nigeria Police Force, and other relevant authorities to move swiftly in securing the safe release of the abducted lecturer.

It also advocated for improved intelligence operations and surveillance systems across Akoko communities, stressing that proactive measures are essential to preventing further security breaches.
