Akoko Youths back creation of Ose State, commend Ehindero

The Akoko Youth Forum has declared its full support for the proposed creation of Ose State.

The statement was jointly signed by Blessing James Akeju (National President), Adeniran Adesunloye (National General Secretary), and Momoh Fadlallah (National PRO) of the Akoko Youth Forum.

In the statement, the group commended Hon. Ifeoluwa Ehindero, the member representing Akoko Northeast/Northwest Federal Constituency, for sponsoring the bill, describing it as a “historic and visionary step” aimed at ensuring balanced development and inclusive governance.

The proposed Ose State, as outlined in the bill, will include Akoko Northeast, Akoko Northwest, Akoko Southeast, Akoko Southwest, Owo, Ose, and other nearby local governments with shared cultural heritage.

The forum emphasized that the initiative is not rooted in politics of division, but in the pursuit of administrative accessibility, regional equity, and increased federal presence in the area.

They also backed the proposal for Ikare-Akoko to serve as the capital of the new state, citing factors such as its high population density, central location, commercial importance, existing infrastructure, and capacity for future expansion.

The group added that Ikare has a long-standing record of peaceful coexistence and regional influence, making it a suitable choice for the administrative headquarters.

Appealing to residents of Ose and Owo, the youth leaders called for unity and cooperation, stressing that the creation of Ose State presents a rare opportunity to reshape the region’s development trajectory.

They urged traditional rulers, political figures, religious institutions, and youth organizations across the proposed state to rally behind the move.

According to the group, the creation of Ose State would unlock new economic prospects, attract federal projects, and promote grassroots development for all communities involved.
