EFCC breaks silence on VeryDarkMan’s arrest

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has finally spoken out about the arrest of social media personality Martins Vincent, popularly known as VDM.

According to Dele Oyewale, EFCC spokesperson, VDM was arrested in response to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners.

“We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners,” Oyewale said, as reported by the BBC. The EFCC spokesperson clarified that the arrest was in line with the agency’s responsibilities.

Oyewale also revealed that VDM would be charged in court once the necessary legal procedures are completed.

“We will release him when he meets the bail conditions, and we will take the case to court as soon as possible; we are law-abiding,” he said.

VDM’s arrest was reported on May 2, 2025, at a bank in Abuja. The EFCC spokesperson’s statement provides clarity on the circumstances surrounding the arrest and the agency’s next steps in handling the case.
