Timilehin Ajayi: Gospel singer’s father appeals for son’s release following arrest

The father of Timilehin Ajayi, the gospel singer arrested in connection with the murder of Salome Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, has called for his son’s release.

Ajayi was apprehended after being found with the severed head of Adaidu in a polythene bag. The singer has since been remanded in custody by a Nasarawa State High Court.

The tragic incident occurred in Agwan Sarki, a community near the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

As Adaidu’s family mourns their loss, Ajayi’s father has expressed his desire for his son’s release. In an interview with Channels Television, he pleaded, saying, “I want the government to help me so that this matter is resolved. Please help me appeal for his release.”

In contrast, Ajayi’s mother has distanced herself from the situation, stating that she is leaving everything in the hands of the authorities.

“If it were one of my daughters they did that to, how would I feel?” she remarked. “The government can take whatever actions they see fit. Everything is in their hands.”

Ajayi, who also presents himself as a motivational speaker on TikTok, admitted to the crime during his interrogation.

He revealed in a now-viral video that he had been in a relationship with Adaidu for over a year before her death.

According to Ajayi, a heated argument led to a violent confrontation, during which Adaidu allegedly attempted to stab him.

Ajayi, who gained attention after releasing his album God of the Earth in 2020, further disclosed that the rest of Adaidu’s body was at his home.

The remains of Adaidu have since been buried, with a viral video showing a group of men conducting the funeral amidst the sounds of mourning.
