Ondo Governorship Election: PDP Candidate Ajayi Alleges Compromise, Expresses Confidence in Victory

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the ongoing Ondo State governorship election, Alfred Agboola Ajayi, has claimed that the electoral process has been compromised.

Ajayi criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its inability to conduct a smooth election in a single state, citing widespread issues with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and unchecked vote-buying allegedly orchestrated by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Despite his concerns, Ajayi expressed optimism about his chances of winning the election and urged the people of Ondo State to come out and vote without fear.

Speaking after casting his vote at Apoi Ward 11, Unit 004, at RCM Idumado Quarters in Kiribo, Ese-Odo Local Government Area, Ajayi said:

“The system has been compromised. It is unfortunate that INEC cannot conduct an election properly in just one state. The BVAS devices are malfunctioning—it took nearly 10 minutes to capture my details. I believe this is a deliberate act by INEC and the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola. We have raised concerns about her impartiality several times.”

Ajayi further remarked, “I have received numerous complaints from across the state about rampant vote-buying. It is a disgraceful situation. However, I urge our people to remain determined; come out and vote. We must not be discouraged by the tactics of the APC and INEC. We will prevail.”
