RCCG slams suspension on two pastors over allegations of homosexuality practices

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has announced the suspension of Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa following allegations of inappropriate conduct involving young church members.

Several anonymous individuals reportedly contacted a popular blog, alleging sexual misconduct by the two church leaders. In response, RCCG leadership issued a memo affirming the church’s commitment to investigating these claims thoroughly and upholding its biblical standards.

Pending the investigation’s completion, both individuals are suspended from their duties and are expected to fully cooperate. The church has assured members that the internal inquiry will be conducted with confidentiality and aims to conclude within two weeks.

A memo, signed by RCCG National Overseer Pastor Sunday Akande, and addressed to all church leaders, stated: “This memo serves to inform you of serious allegations of inappropriate behavior involving Pastor Ayorinde Ade Bello and Deacon Oke Mayowa.

“In line with our mission’s commitment to upholding biblical teachings, we are addressing these allegations with the seriousness they warrant. As outlined in our doctrine, RCCG strictly prohibits any act of homosexuality, in accordance with biblical teachings.”

Citing scriptures such as Leviticus 18:22 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, the church underscored its stance on moral conduct. The memo continued, “In light of these allegations, a thorough investigation is mandated. Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello, Deacon Oke Mayowa, and others involved will be relieved of all responsibilities across the mission until the investigation’s conclusion within two weeks.”

The church reiterated its commitment to handling the matter with integrity and respect for all parties, ensuring confidentiality throughout the process.
