A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Idanre and former House of Assembly candidate, Hon. Aderemi Oyewole, popularly known as Gulder, is set to leave the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Currently serving as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Inter-party Politics, Gulder is expected to make his move official in a grand ceremony on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the APC Secretariat in Idanre at 12:00 p.m.
Gulder, a well-known grassroots political mobilizer, will be joined by thousands of PDP members from Idanre in defecting to the APC. They will be formally welcomed into the APC by Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, APC State Chairman Engr. Ade Adetimehin, and other key APC leaders from Idanre.
Speaking about his planned defection, Gulder stated that his decision to join the APC was carefully considered, emphasizing his support for the continuation of good governance and a peaceful political climate in Ondo State.
"My decision to join APC is well thought out. I have made this choice due to my commitment to ensuring the continuity of good governance and a stable political environment in our state. We are particularly impressed by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa's leadership and achievements so far," Gulder explained.
He further claimed that the majority of PDP members in Idanre are ready to follow him to the APC. "I can confidently say that at least 90% of PDP members in Idanre are now APC supporters at heart, and we are fully prepared to work for Governor Aiyedatiwa's victory. The PDP in Idanre will soon see a significant decline in membership in the coming days."
Gulder concluded by warning that the PDP is rapidly losing ground in the area. "The PDP ship is sinking fast, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's only one person left in Idanre PDP by the time of the governorship election. We are eager to join the progressives and make our impact felt in the upcoming election," he assured.
