One Aduat Adedeji, who allegedly duped a prospective buyer of an uncompleted building of N1.3 million, was on Friday docked before a Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Ibadan.
Adedeji, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of obtaining money by false pretences and stealing, to which she pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Mr Philip Amusan told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offences on July 26, 2023, at Idi-Ose area of Ibadan.
Amusan said that the defendant obtained the money from one Ibrahim Babalola, on the pretext of selling an uncompleted four bedroom building to him, knowing same to be on government acquired land.
The prosecutor said that the defendant was deceitful in the transaction, knowing her representation to be false.
Amusan said that the offences allegedly contravened Sections 419 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Court President, Mrs Sukurat Yusuf, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million and two sureties in like sum.
Yusuf ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relation to the defendant and adjourned the case until July 5 for hearing. (NAN)
