Gen. Arogbofa's grand exit and testimonies of good deeds

The former Chief of Staff to ex President Goodluck Jonathan, retired Brigadier General Jones Oladeinde Arogbofa,  was buried in a heroic manner on Friday,  10 May 2024, in his hometown of Oka Akoko in Ondo  State.

The grand event, which elicited tears and testimonials of the good deeds of the beloved People’s General, was graced by VIPs and the generality of folks from home and abroad.

Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and his deputy were physically present while former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and ex Senate President,  Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, represented former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Top brass of serving and retired military  officers were also present. And the rank and file were in line, too.

A wake-keep at the deceased brand new house followed the triumphant entry and gunfire salutation by local hunters, dancing troupes, and branded Okada outriders on Thursday May 09.

Both Okarufe Cultural Foundation, OCF, and Okarufe Leadership Association, OLA, to which the late General belonged to put up a marvelous show of love, solidarity and fraternity

There was a controlled Church Service followed by a private interment of the body.

A grand reception, featuring top-class Army Band, also followed at African Grammar School, Oka Akoko.

In fact, nothing tells the story better than the bold roadside banners that adorn all the gateways to Oka: "OUR HERO GOES HOME!" sponsored by OCF.

Adieu, General Jones Ajayi Oladeinde Arogbofa, PhD and MFR. Your memory of silent charity shall linger forever.

Thank you all, and let's emulate the virtues of community stewardship and development orientation demonstrated by our late brother, uncle, and mentor.
