A frontline group, Arewa Youth Forum has slammed former Zamfara State Governor and current Nigeria's Minister of State for Defence, His Excellency, Alhaji Bello Mohammed Matawalle over comments credited to him against the Northern Elders Forum.
This was contained in a statement personally signed by Arewa Youth Forum President, Ahmed Mohammed Zagi, made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday April 18, 2024.
The statement reads: "We are deeply worried that a supposed minster from the North would be callous and insensitive to the extent of trading words with our revered elders, the Northern Elders Forum (NEF).
"This is not in our culture, especially we from the North to disrespect elders. It is alien and must be discouraged. We are people with high esteem and regards for those who are older than us, hence, anything short, would not be tolerated," the group said.
Arewa Youth Forum said that instead of the Minister to concentrate on how to end the insecurity ravaging the country mostly the North and particularly in his home State, he has taken a path that will further alienate the regime of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the Northern Region.
They therefore, urged him to retrace his steps and apologize to the Northern Elders, whom they described as patriots, committed to ensuring the welfare of their people.
Arewa Youth Forum however, commended President Tinubu for his zeal to ensure Nigerians fare better, while tasking him to purge out non performing appointees in his cabinet.
