Rainstorm: Ondo Assembly visits lta-Ogbolu


The Ondo State House of Assembly has assured the victims of Rainstorm in Ita-ogbolu, Akure North Local government area of the State of Government intervention to ameliorate their plight.

The House of Assembly Speaker,Rt.Hon.Chief Olamide Oladij who accompanied the Honourable member representing the constituency,Hon.Kolawole Ologede to inspect the affected areas  also visited the Palace, promising government's prompt attention.

The Speaker said as an arm of government,the house will make proper recommendation to the appropriate quaters.

Expressing his sympathy at the palace of the Ogbolu of Ita-Ogbolu,Rt Hon. Oladiji Acknowledged the unforeseen nature of such disasters and  extended his condolences to the community.

He assured the community that the house will make proper recommendation to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to  provide necessary assistance  to the victims.

Highlighting the importance of preventive measures, the Speaker encouraged residents to plant more trees and renovate buildings to mitigate the impact of future disasters.

The Lawmaker representing the constituency,Hon. Kolawole Ologede informed that over 200 houses were affected with many rendered homeless.

He noted that it affected not only residential areas but also churches and Schools.

He assured the people of his constituency that government will intervene very soon.

The Ogbolu of Ita-Ogbolu, Oba Idowu Faborode, reciprocated the house of Assembly gesture, thanking them for their concern and compassion during this trying time.

Recounting their losses in various Streets visited in Ita-ogbolu, victims said that the rain which lasted for about 30 minutes damaged roofs, buildings among others noting that they are still in shock and disbelief with the sad occurrence. 

They  appealed to government to come to their rescue as the sad event has render them homeless.
