Police arraign 2 for allegedly possessing human parts

Two men: Hassan Kolawole, 45 and Tijani Waheed, 51, were on Friday arraigned in an Iyaganku Magistrates' Court, Ibadan for allegedly possessing human head and two human hands.

The duo whose residential addresses were not provided were charged with conspiracy and unlawful possession of human parts.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Segun Adegboye told the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offence on Nov. 6, at 2. 00 p.m, at No 32 Mosebolatan Street, Ogbere Tioya, Ibadan.

Adegboye alleged that the duo unlawfully possessed the human parts separated from the body with the intent to process money ritual.

He alleged that they conspired to commit misdemeanor to with misconduct with regard to corpse.

The Prosecutor also alleged that the duo improperly interfered and offered indignity to a dead human body for the purpose of preparing money ritual concortions and charms.

He said the offences contravened Sections 516, 329A(1)(2) and 242(1)(b)(2) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendants however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs S. I Babalola granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500, 000 each and two sureties each in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Jan. 22, 2024 for hearing. (NAN)
