Subsidy: No plan to reduce workdays for Ondo Workers – Govt

The Ondo state Government on Monday, said no plans to reduce work days for civil servants in the state as part of palliative measures to cushion the effects of subsidy removal by the federal government.

The Kwara State Government had in June reduced work days from five to three days per week for all state-employed workers but reversed the directive last month, directing the workers to return to five work days, pending further directive from the government and the labour leaders.

However, the commissioner for finance in Ondo state, Mr Wale Akinterinwa said no plans by the state government to go into that direction.

Addressing newsmen in Akure, the Ondo state capital, Akinterinwa said, “We have discussions with the various strata of the civil service and the labour and they said we don’t see why we should reduce work days.

“They ( labour leaders) are not agitating for reduction in the work days.

“The labour leaders have been engaged and whatever we as state government officials are rolling out as palliatives to workers have their backing.”
