Palliative: Pay 5 months salary arrears of Mimiko's appointees, pension —Group begs Ondo govt

A group, Concerned Citizen of Ondo State has appealed to the Acting Governor of the State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa to consider the five months salaries arrears owed the former Political appointees that served under Governor Olusegun Mimiko as part of the palliative measures to cushion effect of fuel subsidy.

Already, the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN had paid two months out of the seven months owed them by the state government about four years ago.

The group sighted Dr. Kayode Fayemi that paid all political office holders arrears owned during Ayo Fayose’s administration in Ekiti State and the one owed by administration of Late Dr Olusegun Agagu in Ondo State that was paid during the administration of Dr Olusegun Mimiko among others as examples.

In a short statement issued in Akure, the Ondo State Capital by the Chairman of the group, Mr. Ade Funso and its Secretary, Comrade Raymond ifeaje, noted that the group wanted government to address the issue of arrears.

“Payment of 5 months salaries owed to Political Office Holders, that served in the last Administration, uptill February, 2017. Payment of Gratuities of Pensioners and to both living and the dead.”

“Arrears of Salaries of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic and other MDAs in the same situation, if any. Outstanding payments to Consultants and Contractors across board, if any.”

"We join other citizens of the state clamouring for the payment of these arrears so as to make lives meaningful for the citizens of the state,” the group added.

The group however commended the Acting Governor of the State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his contributions and actions so far since the power of governing the state affairs had been transmitted to him.
