The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo Chapter, has said its members won't participate in the Institution's forthcoming examination scheduled for June 13th, 2023.
The Union threatened to boycott the examination in a communique issued
at the end of its congress yesterday
In the communiqué signed by the Union’s Chairman, Comrade Arikawe Ade and Secretary, Comrade Fapetu Damilola, they hinged their decision to down tools on the non-payment of their 13 months salary.
The lecturers also noted the hardship and challenges of the current price of fuel on their members, making it extremely difficult for livelihood.
The communique partly read, “After much emphasis and extensive deliberation, the Congress unanimously agreed to withdraw the services of members from participating in the scheduled First Semester Examination Exercise which is proposed to commence on 13th June, 2023, until the condition below is met.
“We want the payment in full of all outstanding (13 Months) salary arrears owned the staff of the institution.
“The Congress wish to strongly emphasise that the decision above is binding on all the financial members of the union (ASUP),”
