Bandits kidnap 200 students in Niger

Armed men have kidnapped about 200 students of Islamiyya School at Tegina in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.

One person was shot dead while another was critically injured during the operation.

The bandits struck at about 4:30pm on Sunday, Channels TV reports.

A resident, Zayyad Mohammed, said the Salihu Tanko Islamiyya School was built by a retired Immigrations officer.

In February, bandits abducted staff members and students of Government Science College, Kagara.

They were released about 10 days later after ransom payment.
