US President Donald Trump urges voters to back republican in Tuesday’s special elections

US President Donald Trump is calling on voters to back the GOP in Tuesday’s special elections in Georgia and South Carolina.

The Republican president argued in a Monday tweet that the Democrats have “no ideas.”

“Big day tomorrow in Georgia and South Carolina. ObamaCare is dead. Dems want to raise taxes big! They can only obstruct, no ideas. Vote ‘R,’ ” he said.

In Georgia, the race between Democrat Jon Ossoff and Republican Karen Handel has made it the most expensive in the history of races for the US House of Representatives.

More than 12,000 volunteers are engaged in Ossoff’s campaign to fill the Congressional seat vacated by Health and Human Services Secretary Tim Price.

Earlier on Monday, Trump called out Ossoff for not living in the 6th Congressional District. 

“Karen Handel's opponent in #GA06 can't even vote in the district he wants to represent... because he doesn't even live there! He wants to raise taxes and kill healthcare. On Tuesday, #VoteKarenHandel,” said the president on Twitter.

Voters are also scheduled to head to the polls in South Carolina’s 5th District to fill the seat of Mick Mulvaney, who was chosen by Trump as the director of the Office of Management and Budget.

In that race, GOP candidate Ralph Norman has a solid lead in the polls over Democratic contender Archie Parnell.
