“Tuesday’s game definitely weighed on us, even if in the second half we improved our rhythm and were getting the game under control,” said manager Massimiliano Allegri according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
“Sooner or later a loss will come, thankfully it came like this today, after the break, we will retake our path in Serie A, which we still need to win.”
“You can’t play at your maximum every match, today we needed to know to suffer at a defensive level and to bring home the points even playing badly,” he continued explaining.
An ecstatic Stefano Sturaro was pleased to mark his third Genoa debut by scoring in their surprise 2-0 Serie A win over old club Juventus.
“We were rising because in the second half we were controlling the game, but football is strange and Sturaro scored a goal that changed the game. I am happy for him because of all of the injuries he suffered.”
“This loss can only do us good, we have to have at least 5 more victories hoping that Napoli loses more points,” he said.
